TORONTO – There can be only one Report On Business and it belongs to the Globe and Mail newspaper, CTVglobemedia has decided.
So as of Monday, Report On Business Television (ROBTv) becomes BNN – Business News Network.
The financial channel launched in 1999, borrowing the name of the Globe and Mail’s Report On Business brand. The network will continue its successful association with The Globe and Mail including regular contribution from The Globe and Mail’s business journalists, but under its own new brand name. "The Report on Business brand will now be associated exclusively with The Globe and Mail," says the press release.
"It’s time in the channel’s evolution for stand-alone identity," said Jack Fleischmann, general manager.
BNN will continue to be Canada’s only 24/7 financial news television service, and will retain the same format and shows.
The channel also delivers business reports online and via mobile. The new www.bnn.com web site features full-length, on-demand programming from network’s program slate together with up-to-the-minute information on all of the stock market activities. The channel is also available via the mobile video news service available on Bell Mobility
The distinctive red in the new logo (pictured) is carried over from the network’s out-going logo and the entire channel package was developed in-house by CTV Inc.’s creative services and on-air promotions teams, led by Jon Arklay, vice-president of creative services.
