MONTREAL − CTVglobemedia’s French sports news channel, RIS Info-sports, has passed the one million subscriber mark, the company has announced.
“Barely three years after its launch, RIS has exceeded our expectations. For a digital network to reach one million viewers on the francophone market in so little time is exceptional,” said Gerry Frappier, president of Réseau des sports, in a release. “Today, 1.6 million viewers* get their information from RIS Info-sports every month.”
“We have been able to enhance our service offer to francophone sports fans. In addition to instant access to sports information 24/7, francophone viewers benefit from a wider range of major sports events live with RIS Info-sports in combination with RDS,” added Frappier.
Indeed, RIS Info-sports broadened its initial mandate in the fall of 2006 with the addition of NHL games and the traditional Monday night NFL football. This year, with the presentation of 29 of the 44 National Hockey League games, the digital network reached an average of 203,000 viewers per game and an average of 105,000 viewers Monday nights for National Football League games, says the company.
RIS is at channel 99 on Vidéotron and Cogeco, channel 124 for Bell Express Vu subscribers, and channel 749 for Star Choice clients.
