RIM rolls out Playbook 2.0


WATERLOO, ON – Research In Motion released the 2.0 software upgrade for its PlayBook tablet early on Tuesday morning.

The PlayBook OS 2.0 software update is available as a free download.  Some of the new features include a unified inbox that consolidates personal and work email accounts as well as messages from Facebook and Twitter in one place, an updated BlackBerry Bridge app that provides a Bluetooth connection between the tablet and core apps like BBM on the BlackBerry smart phone, plus a range of new Android apps and content.

“Building on the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet's proven web browsing, multimedia and multitasking strengths, the new BlackBerry PlayBook OS 2.0 introduces a range of new communications and productivity enhancements as well as expanded app and content support," said David J. Smith, RIM’s SVP mobile computing, in the company’s news release.
