Revenues and profits up in first quarter at Research In Motion

WATERLOO – Revenue increased 19% to $2.24 billion as net income rose to $482.5 million from $223.2 million in the first quarter ended May 31 from the same quarter a year earlier at Research In Motion Limited. The revenue breakdown for the quarter was approximately 82% for devices, 13% for service, 3% for software and 2% for other revenue. During the quarter, RIM shipped approximately 5.4 million devices.
