REV TV to air Race of Champions Snow + Ice events live

BURLINGTON, Ont. — Canadian motorsports and automotive channel REV TV Canada announced today it will broadcast live Race of Champions 2022 events on Saturday, Feb. 5 and Sunday, Feb. 6, starting at 6 a.m. ET for three non-stop hours each day.

Taking place in Pite Havsbad, Sweden, the Race of Champions (ROC) Snow + Ice series features some of the world’s best drivers from several major motorsport series, including Formula 1, World Rally, NASCAR, IndyCar, Le Mans, Touring Cars and X-Games, explains a press release.

These elite drivers “come together for a unique chance to compete head-to-head in identical cars to decide who really is the fastest of them all, the ‘Champion of Champions,’ and to crown the ‘World’s Fastest Nation’ in the ROC Nations Cup,” the release reads.

“REV TV is thrilled to be able to deliver this one-of-a-kind event to viewers across Canada with our month-long February Free Preview (check your TV provider),” said Mike Garrow, president of REV TV, in the release.

“When you look at this year lineup of racers it really is a who’s who of motorsports, we’ve got Sebastian Vettel (4x Formula 1 World Champion), Jimmie Johnson (7x NASCAR Cup Champion), Helio Castroneves (4x Indy 500 Winner), and many more,” Garrow added.

More information about the drivers competing in this year’s ROC is available here.

“We are very happy that Canadian motorsport fans will be able to watch the first Race of Champions World Final on Snow + Ice, on the frozen ocean 60 miles from the Arctic Circle at Pite Havsbad in Sweden on REV TV,” said Fredrik Johnsson, president of Race of Champions.

“It will be fascinating to see how some of the world’s best drivers adapt to the new conditions and who will come out on top,” Johnsson said.

Built on the frozen Baltic Sea, the ROC Snow + Ice course will use the series’ iconic parallel track and cross-over bridge — a proprietary track design that ensures the head-to-head action fans have come to expect from ROC, and that is optimized for broadcast productions, the release says.

“ROC is dedicated to providing a platform for innovation and is using the event in Sweden to launch a new era in its racing equipment. This commitment includes cars powered by electric and 100% fossil-free biofuel engines,” the release says.

Leading up to the two days of live ROC races in Sweden, REV TV will air the ROC documentary On the Line on Monday, Jan. 31 at 9 p.m. ET, ROC Mexico 2019 on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 9 p.m. ET, and ROC London 2015 on Friday, Feb. 4 at 9 p.m. ET.
