REV TV adds documentary, B.C. race, as Maskatel adds the channel


BURLINGTON, Ont. — REV TV Canada and CHEK Media Group announced today they will be simulcasting the national premiere of the documentary Before I am Gone.

Featuring David Smith, founder of Victoria. B.C.’s Shockwave Seats and Shockwave Motorsports, the documentary will air Sunday September 6th at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET and will be followed by the Shockwave Seats Canada 200 Late Model Live race from Western Speedway in Langford B.C. (Pictured is a shot from last year’s race.)

The Western Speedway, established in 1954 is the longest continually operating racetrack in Canada, plays a key role in the documentary which tells the story of race car builder and entrepreneur Smith who goes back to the track to race at an age most have long given up driving, after being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.

“We feel very fortunate to be able to share Dave’s story, that centers around the Western Speedway and the Canada 200.” said Mike Wavrecan of M1 Films – one of the producers of Before I’m Gone. “It’s such an epic event for the community and very proud to be a part of it. It’s nice to pull the curtain back a bit to show what goes on behind the scenes.”

REV TV also announced today Quebec independent Maskatel has added it to their channel lineup.

Headquartered in Saint-Hyacinthe, Groupe Maskatel provides broadband, TV and home phone for residential and business customers in Saint-Hyacinthe, Drummondville and surroundings areas.
