TORONTO – Looking to the future (small screens, big screens, portable media, etc.) is great fun, but what’s really driving the industry rightnow? Of course, it’s the focus on the bundle of voice, video and high speed Internet.
Come hear – and interact with – three North American industry leaders who will set out the successes they’ve had, the opportunities they see, and the pitfalls to avoid, when it comes to the voice, video and data bundle. This session will be key for cable operators to hear new ideas from new sources and for programmers since there are significant opportunities within the focus on multi-product bundles for your TV channels.
* Cablevision Systems is the fourth-largest MSO in North America. It has two million digital cable customers (well over 60% penetration), over 1.6 million high speed Internet customers and is closing in on a million digital voice customers. If any company is a triple-play leader in the States, Cablevision is it and Jon Hargis, the company’s senior vice-president, marketing and advertising is coming to Toronto to tell us about it.
* EastLink has offered telephone service in Nova Scotia and PEI in a bundle with high speed Internet since 2000. It has its big regional telco scared and on the run – and has recently added the fourth leg of the stool – wireless. If any Canadian company knows the bundle, EastLink is it and co-CEO Dan McKeen will be on hand in Toronto to let us know how it’s done down east.
* Char Beales is president of CTAM National. The Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing helps consumers understand the benefits of cable through numerous initiatives and provides marketing education, information and networking opportunities to its more than 5,000 members. If anyone knows marketing in this industry, it’s Char, and she can articulate just how CTAM can help you.
This stimulating, entertaining, informative panel, moderated by Cogeco Cable vice-president business development Tom McCutcheon, will outline what works and why (in this day and age of single product newcomers and multi-product powerhouses like the incumbent telcos) it’s still the bundle, baby.
When: Thurs., March 23, 2006, 4 p.m. session. Cocktail reception to follow.
