
MONTREAL – Bell Media announced today RDS and Noovo will broadcast Montreal Canadiens legend Guy Lafleur’s national funeral live on Tuesday, May 3 at 9 a.m.
It will also be available live on RDS.ca, Noovo.ca and Noovo.info.
The ceremony is to take place at Marie-Reine-du-Monde Cathedral in Montreal and will begin at 11 a.m.
RDS announcer Pierre Houde will be at the ceremony and “will accompany viewers throughout the show,” an English translation of a French press release explains. “He will be supported by commentators François Gagnon and Ray Lalonde as well as reporters Luc Gélinas, Stéphane Leroux, Patrick Friolet and Andrée-Anne Barbeau.”
Following the ceremony, RDS’s tribute to Lafleur will continue. “In the coming days, Sports 30 and Noovo Le Fil newsletters will provide full coverage of the ceremonies surrounding Guy Lafleur’s national funeral,” the release says. “Starting Sunday, regular updates will also be available in the newsletters produced by Noovo Info for ENERGY and Rouge FM stations throughout Quebec.”
Additionally, this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. RDS Info and RDS.ca will present a live special program dedicated to Lafleur.
“François Bessette and Claude Mailhot will meet with several speakers who have agreed to share their best memories of flamboyant No. 10. Reporters Patrick Friolet and Andrée-Anne Barbeau will speak live from the Bell Centre throughout the report.”
The first part of the program, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., will also be broadcast on RDS.
