RDS and Noovo announce special coverage of this weekend’s F1 Canadian Grand Prix

MONTREAL — Bell Media announced today RDS will present exclusive French-language coverage of the Formula 1 Grand Prix AWS du Canada 2022 live from Montreal’s Gilles-Villeneuve circuit from June 17-19.

Sunday’s race will also air on Bell Media’s Noovo, a first in the channel’s history, starting at 1 p.m. ET. English-language coverage of the Canadian Grand Prix will be presented by TSN.

In addition to live coverage of the weekend’s events, starting with the first free practice session on Friday, June 17 beginning at 1:45 p.m. ET, RDS’s exclusive programming will include several specials presented by its flagship sports shows.

From Thursday to Sunday, Sports 30 will offer four special programs hosted by Pierre Houde. Highlights from each day at the racing circuit will be presented by Bertrand Houle, Jean-Luc Legendre, Olivier Larue and Daniel Richard.

On Thursday at 5 p.m. ET and Friday at 3:15 p.m. ET, Frédéric Plante, Yanick Bouchard and the rest of the 5 à 7 team will present two live broadcasts from the Gilles-Villeneuve circuit.

In addition, on Friday at 10:30 p.m. ET, L’Antichambre will focus on the Canadian Grand Prix in a special episode hosted by Andrée-Anne Barbeau who will be joined by panellists Houde and Houle.

Other special programs include Jour de match: François Dumontier, a 30-minute program that follows the promoter of the 2022 Canadian Grand Prix in the days preceding the race, which will air on RDS on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Then at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, Houde and Houle will host a special 30-minute edition of Sur la ligne depart, taking viewers behind the scenes of the race in addition to talking with Dumontier and the drivers participating.

The race itself starts at 1:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, which will be presented by RDS and Noovo simultaneously.

During the three days of racing action, which includes the practice sessions and Saturday’s qualifying session, Houde, Houle and Patrick Carpentier “will be on hand to describe and analyze the smallest actions of the drivers and the teams,” reads an English translation of Bell Media’s press release. Reporter Jean-Luc Legendre “will criss-cross the paddocks, on the lookout for privileged information,” the translation says.

In addition to the RDS main network, all of the event coverage will be available on the RDS Direct digital platform, which will also offer subscribers additional images thanks to a series of exclusive camera angles, the release explains.

During the free practice sessions, the qualifying session and the race, RDS Direct will provide live in-car coverage of Canadian drivers Lance Stroll (above, left) and Nicholas Latifi (right), as well as a choice of other on-board cameras. Subscribers will also be able to see the pit stops, the RDS signal with the description by Houde and Houle, a map with the position of the drivers in real time, and the statistics and times of the drivers.
