SAN FRANCISCO – Rdio expanded its music streaming service in to 20 new countries on Wednesday, including Argentina, Costa Rica, Israel and South Africa.
Rdio’s global footprint now reaches 51 countries across six continents, making it the second largest music subscription service in the world in terms of countries serviced. At the start of 2013, only 30% of Rdio’s monthly active users (MAUs) came from territories outside the United States, but that number has grown to over half of Rdio’s users with 57% of MAUs coming from regions outside of the U.S.
“We launched Rdio in two countries just over three years ago. Today, we’re proud to bring our latest groundbreaking music experience to customers in 51 different international markets,” said CEO Anthony Bay, in the announcement. “Instant access to over 20 million songs, weekly new albums including several exclusive artist releases, and over 400 genre radio stations is an incredible value that we are excited to share with music lovers around the world.”
