Raptors Uprising esports team unveils Bell Gaming Centre

TORONTO — Raptors Uprising, the Toronto Raptors’ official NBA 2K League esports team and an initiative of MLSE Digital Labs, yesterday unveiled Bell Gaming Centre (above), a new state-of-the-art facility that will be the central hub for the gaming club.

Raptors Uprising will use the new facility to compete virtually in the NBA 2K League, stream content and engage with fans in other esports experiences, explains a press release today, which adds the new space also provides Raptors Uprising players “with a best-in-class training environment for gaming, fitness and lifestyle.”

Before this move to Bell Gaming Centre, located at Toronto’s Exhibition Place, the team lived and trained at Bell Fibe House, located in a residential area of Toronto, since 2018.

The new facility features “advanced technology catered specifically to esports performance,” according to the release.

“The facility is powered by Bell pure fibre Internet service, which has download speeds of 3 Gbps and upload speeds of 3 Gbps. Bell Gaming Centre is also equipped with six top-of-the-line gaming stations with high-performance PCs, PS5s, LG Ultragear gaming monitors and gaming peripherals and each PC enables streaming for up to six players at once. Additionally, the facility features a dedicated streaming room for one-on-one sessions as well as a racing simulation set-up courtesy of Ford Canada,” the release reads.

“We are thrilled to unveil the brand-new Bell Gaming Centre and continue our support of Raptors Uprising and esports in Canada,” said Jeffrey Schwartz, vice-president of marketing and content at Bell, in the release.

“Our pure fibre Internet powers Bell Gaming Centre, providing players with upload and download speeds of 3 Gbps, so they can take advantage of the faster speeds they need to be on top of the leaderboard.”

“Over the last four seasons, our team has evolved, and we are matching that transformation by creating a new gaming facility that meets the needs of our players and front office,” said Sumit Arora, vice-president of strategy, analytics and esports at MLSE.

“Our partnership with Bell has been integral in making the Bell Gaming Centre a reality for the 2022 season and we look forward to welcoming not just our team, but also giving other professional esports teams access to a space that is unlike anything in our city.”
