TORONTO — Content syndication group Orbyt Media, a subsidiary of Bell Media, announced today it is partnering with Corus Entertainment to bring Randy Bachman’s Vinyl Tap program back to Canadian radio.
The legendary radio program hosted by Bachman (above) ran for 16 years on CBC Radio until it was cancelled in 2021.
Nearly a year later, on Sunday, March 6, the two-hour Vinyl Tap program will launch on several Corus Entertainment classic hits and rock stations across Canada including Rock 101 Vancouver, BIG 101.1 Barrie, Q107 Calgary, Boom 101.9 Cornwall, The Chuck 92.5 Edmonton, Y108 Hamilton, BIG 96.3 Kingston, 107.5 Dave Rocks Kitchener, FM96 London, 101.5 The Wolf Peterborough, and Power 97 Winnipeg.
The program will air across these stations on Sunday evenings at 9 p.m. local time.
“Through Randy’s personal memories, listeners will get a two-hour front row seat and a backstage pass to some of the greatest musical moments of the last six decades,” reads an Orbyt Media press release.
Bachman is known as the co-creative force behind Canadian rock bands The Guess Who, Bachman-Turner Overdrive (BTO) and Trooper.
“One of my favorite things to do is play music and tell stories that people have not heard before,” said Bachman, in the release.
“My own interactions with musicians and writers all over the world has given me a roomful of knowledge and memories that I treasure. Having my Vinyl Tap show on Classic Rock Radio stations in Canada and sharing these stories with my fans is a dream come true,” he said.
“From the fan mail that I get, I know that we’ve got “Somethin’ Goin’ On” and I want to keep “The Rock Rollin” for many more years. Join me weekly for a free ride in the Rock and Roll Time Machine.”
Vinyl Tap will also present a string of tour dates for the “Randy Bachman’s The Greatest Stories Ever Told (feat. Tal Bachman)” tour, starting in Winnipeg on April 28. This is a “One Night Only kind of evening of music and untold stories, deep from the catalog of Randy and Tal Bachman (Randy’s son), accompanied with visuals and a full band,” the press release says.
