TORONTO – Blue Ant Media announced Monday that Raja Khanna, CEO, television and digital will be stepping down from his position at Blue Ant Media at the end of the calendar year.

The Canadian producer, broadcaster and international media company said in a statement Monday afternoon that the company is “well down the path of establishing itself as an internationally focused organization with production companies, television channels and content distribution that reach around the world.

“In order to deliver on our growth strategy, we have decided to put more accountability and decision making authority directly into our various business units,” it continues. “In the context of this more decentralized structure, Raja Khanna and Michael MacMillan decided that the role of CEO, TV & Digital is a layer of executive oversight which is no longer necessary. Raja has been on the growth journey at Glassbox and Blue Ant for more than 10 years and he is looking forward to his next challenge. We thank him for his many contributions to the creation and growth at Blue Ant Media which reflect his entrepreneurial spirit. “

MacMillan, co-founder and CEO will continue to lead the operations and strategic direction of Blue Ant Media, Ward Platt (CEO, kids and global networks), Sam Sniderman (global head, commercial affairs and production), Jamie Schouela (EVP, Canadian media) and Solange Attwood (SVP, Blue Ant International) will now report to Michael MacMillan

Robb Chase (chief corporate development officer), Cynthia Schyff (CFO), Asha Daniere (EVP, legal & business affairs), David Haslingden (executive director) will continue to report to MacMillan

In a post on LinkedIn, Khanna said he’s looking forward to a bit of time off and then something new – whatever that may be.

“After 10 years of growth and innovation, I am moving on from Blue Ant, the company I helped to take from 6 folks in a Toronto suburb to 500 people around the world today. I’m proud to have grown this company into an international organization with production companies, linear channels, SVOD and AVOD channels, content distribution and digital networks doing business in over 100 markets and reaching tens of millions of people globally,” he wrote.

“I’m so proud of the incredible team I helped build at Blue Ant, who are ready to take the reins and build on this strong foundation, leading the company to new heights. The team can count me as their biggest fan and supporter. There is no doubt that we will cross paths again as I find my next place to be a market disrupter and to drive innovation. The future is bright. Can’t wait.”
