TORONTO — The Ontario Association of Broadcasters (OAB) announced radio industry consultant Mike McVay (pictured) will deliver the closing keynote address at the OAB’s Connection 2019 conference, to be held November 7 at the Marriott Toronto Airport Hotel.

McVay’s scheduled topic is “Mistakes Made… Lessons Learned… Fighting back from Bankruptcy while improving Ratings and Revenue.” McVay has spent 28 years as the head of McVay Media, and has served as executive vice-president of content and programming for Cumulus Media and the Westwood One radio network. In his role at Cumulus Media, McVay oversaw the company’s 425 radio stations and Westwood One, the company’s national syndication arm.

In his keynote address, McVay will share the mistakes he made and learned from as he journeyed through two CEOs, two boards of directors, was promoted to EVP/Content & Programming for the US’s second largest broadcast company and as head of programming for Westwood One radio networks. He will offer his experiences of how the company turned around under CEO Mary Berner, how the ratings grew consistently every month for nearly three years, and how the company continues to be a leading content provider.

The OAB’s 10th annual Connection conference will feature other engaging speakers, the ever-popular Sales Session, and a special Production Super Session this year.
