THETFORD MINES, QC – The Black Lake district of Thetford Mines will soon receive access to high-speed Internet through a joint investment between the governments of Quebec and Canada.
Each will invest $137,500 to bring the first high-speed Internet connection to 115 households in the region. The project, which has a total value of $493,500, will be carried out by Bell.
“In 2019, high-speed Internet service is indispensable for healthy regional economic development and community vitality”, said Marie-Eve Proulx, minister for Regional Economic Development and minister responsible for the Chaudière-Appalaches Region, in the news release. “That is why the Government of Quebec is doing everything possible to ensure that high-speed Internet is available in all regions. Our goal is simple: a prosperous Quebec that measures up to the ambitions of its citizens and businesses.”
“In the 21st century, high-speed Internet is a basic tool that enables our fellow citizens and our businesses to take advantage of new opportunities”, added minister of Families, Children and Social Development Jean-Yves Duclos, on behalf of ISED minister Navdeep Bains. “Thanks to the investments announced today, this region will be able to reach its potential, becoming one of the most innovative and prosperous in the country.”
