Quebecor’s Qolab creates quirky ad campaign for Fizz

MONTREAL — Quebecor’s collaborative marketing agency Qolab (formerly Colab Studio) is the creative force behind a new ad campaign for Videotron’s discount wireless brand Fizz that features a cast of eccentric characters, the company announced today.

The campaign launched August 3 and will run on TV, web, social media, print and out-of-home platforms in Quebec and Ontario until Oct. 10.

Among the characters featured in the ads are “the world’s first Internet Boy Scout, a Martian couch surfer, and a woman who might be giant or tiny,” says a press release.

“Fizz respects the individuality of their customers,” explains Jocelyn Goyer, creative director at Qolab, in the release.

“It’s a brand that lets you design your mobile and Internet plan the way you want it. So, the campaign celebrates uniqueness.” The campaign’s characters “aren’t afraid to do things their way and turn their quirkiness up to 11,” she says.

The Qolab agency was recently rebranded “to put more emphasis on its social media storytellers, Hollywood-level production house, and innovative creative shop,” the release says.

“A big in-house production team is great, especially when you’ve got to go to Mars,” Goyer adds.

“This new collaboration is very promising,” says Martin Gendron, senior marketing manager, communication and partnerships at Fizz. “Fizz offers a new perspective on telecommunications, and we’ve always been proud of how our branding reflected that approach. Our creative platform revolved around our colourful personality, and the cunning evolution proposed by the Qolab team propels the Fizz brand even further.”
