MONTREAL — Quebecor Content announced today the appointment of Louis Pearson (above) as senior director of acquisitions and original film.
In his new role, Pearson will be responsible for acquiring “the best content for the TVA Group, Club illico and Vrai platforms,” says a press release announcing his promotion.
Pearson will lead Quebecor Content’s content acquisition team while retaining his responsibilities as head of film development for the group, overseeing the production and promotion of Quebec feature films.
Prior to his new appointment, Pearson had been director of fiction acquisitions and Quebec film development for Quebecor Content since 2018. He has almost 25 years of experience working in the film and television industry, having held senior programming and acquisitions positions at various media groups.
As senior director of acquisitions, Pearson will report to Yann Paquet, vice-president of strategy and international affairs for Quebecor Content.
“With his experience and knowledge of the local and international markets, Louis was the logical choice to lead our acquisitions team,” Paquet said in the press release. “In recent years, he has played a key role in the success of our channels and platforms. Louis’ leadership and solid reputation with our partners, combined with his team’s expertise, will enable us to continue acquiring top-calibre international content in all genres.”
“I am fortunate to be working with an exceptional team that is committed to finding the best content for our audiences,” Pearson said. “I am delighted that Quebecor management has placed its trust in me by giving me this new assignment.”
Speaking about his ongoing responsibility for Quebec film development, Pearson said: “I am very proud to continue this important collaboration with major talents in Quebec’s film industry.”
