MONTREAL – Quebecor is hoping that the next new TV format may be developed in Quebec.

The company said Monday that it is collaborating with C2 Montreal on a competition known as P.I.T.C.H, that challenges the province’s television, film and media creators and designers to propose ‘the next big idea’.

P.I.T.C.H is seeking original and unpublished non-scripted television formats, provided that the intellectual property is fully owned by the individual submitters.  Outlines must be submitted by April 15, and selected finalists will then be retained for four weeks to work on and submit their presentations to a five person jury during the 2015 edition of C2 Montreal, set for May 26 – 28, 2015.

First prize is a $25,000 development grant courtesy of the Quebecor Fund, while the second prize, offered by Armoza Formats, entitles the recipient to participate in the April 2016 MIPFormats in Cannes. The third prize will be a four-week development course with the QMI Content Creation team.

“Quebecor's commitment to supporting and promoting the reach of Quebecers' creativity is behind how the competition was designed with our partner, C2 Montreal," said France Lauziere, SVP content, QMI content and VP programming, TVA Group, in the news release.  "This project also aims to demonstrate Quebecers' extraordinary creative potential and then spread our ideas across all borders."

"C2 Montreal has a very specific goal: to create and enhance synergies between commerce and creativity”, added C2 Montreal president Richard St-Pierre.  “As such, the P.I.T.C.H contest is a perfect illustration of what we want to accomplish. We are looking forward to working on such a stimulating project with Quebecor's teams."
