LONDON, UK – Quebec City offers the best mobile video out of Canada’s 10 largest cities, according to new data from Opensignal.

The mobile analytics company said that all 10 of the country’s biggest urban centres scored high in this metric, which measures the quality of video streamed to mobile phones over 3G and 4G networks. Each city had Very Good scores (defined as between 65-75 on a 100-point scale) in its measurements, indicating that video loads quickly and only stutters or stops occasionally during playback, even at higher resolutions.

Opensignal ranked Quebec City as tops with a score of 73.1 out of 100, but it wasn't the only high achiever in la belle province.  Montreal came in third with a Video Experience score of 72.2, just behind second place Calgary with 72.5.  Toronto ranked last with a score of 67.0, placing it at the low end of the Very Good range.

In Opensignal’s State of Mobile Video report in September, Canada as a whole earned a Good score (55-65), so the cities are outpacing the country overall when it comes to delivering mobile video quality.

Opensignal’s latest analysis on Canada used data collected between December 1, 2018 and March 1, 2019.
