U.S. CHIPMAKER QUALCOMM is calling on the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) to ban the sale of certain Apple iPhones after alleging that Apple has infringed up to six of its patents.
According to an Active Telecoms report, Qualcomm has argued that the patents in question involve ‘key technologies’ that enable important features and functions in iPhones, including the capacity to prolong battery life and the overall efficiency of the devices.
Qualcomm has urged ITC to investigate Apple’s conduct and issue a Limited Exclusion Order to bar importation of the devices into the U.S. Through a Cease and Desist order, Qualcomm is also attempting to block the sale of devices already in the U.S. that it believes infringe on its patents.
This row is the latest in a long-running feud between the two technology titans, continues the report.
