Quadro completes $10M fibre project in St. Marys

ST MARYS, Ont. — Independent telecom provider Quadro Communications Co-operative announced yesterday it has completed construction of a $10-million fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) project in St. Marys, Ont.

The project was originally announced in January 2019. Construction of the fibre infrastructure was completed on schedule in late summer 2021, according to a press release.

“Quadro is able to offer every resident and business in St. Marys internet speeds up to 1 Gigabit (the gold standard of internet speed), with a dedicated fibre optic line run directly to each premise,” the press release reads.

In addition, “with the introduction of Qtv from Quadro, St. Marys customers are able to enjoy both blazing fast internet and the newest TV features through this future-proof technology,” the release says.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer state-of-the-art communication technologies to the residents and businesses of St. Marys. Being a local company which employs local people, is another way Quadro can give back to the areas we serve,” said John DeHeer, general manager of Quadro Communications, in the release.

“The Town of St. Marys is excited to be one of the first small communities in Canada to be fully built out with a fibre optic network,” said St. Marys mayor Al Strathdee. “We are now able to offer first class internet service to residents that will support those who work from a home office.”
