TORONTO – This Thursday, December 8th, marks the 25th anniversary of the death of John Lennon.
On this day, Q107 will pay tribute to him by dedicating twenty-four hours of music and feature programming to highlight his incredible career.
The station will broadcast this special memorial, live from the Hard Rock Café at Yonge/Dundas Square, giving listeners the opportunity to stop by and pay tribute to Lennon.
The day-long broadcast will feature the words and music of John Lennon, including rare interview clips, entire album sides, heartfelt memories from listeners, news reports from the day Lennon was shot and killed as well as rare Lennon music. At 9 p.m., Q107 will conclude the tribute with an exclusive John Lennon radio special hosted by Graham Nash, entitled “The Dream Never Dies.”
This exclusive three-hour special focuses on the solo music of Lennon, including some of his collaborations with Elton John and David Bowie. Everyone who stops by Q107’s memorial broadcast throughout the day will have a chance to sign a book of condolence in John’s memory and receive a John Lennon memorial pin.
The following week, the Corus-owned station will continue it’s celebration of John Lennon’s life by staging a special Christmas concert dedicated to the spirit and music of this legendary artist.
Q107’s “A Very Lennon Christmas” will be staged on Thursday, December 15th at the Phoenix Concert Theatre. This special event will feature the very best of Lennon’s music, performed note for note, cut for cut, by some of Toronto’s best rock musicians. Tickets are on sale now at The Phoenix Concert Theatre. Fans are asked to bring non-perishable food donations to help stock Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank.
