
TORONTO – SiriusXM Canada announced today new limited-engagement channels and specialty programs for SiriusXM Celebrates Black History Month.
“For the month of February, SiriusXM and its brands will be spotlighting Black artists and personalities who have created new genres, styles and ways of thinking, forever transforming Black communities and beyond,” a press release says.
As of Feb. 4, “SiriusXM will launch several limited-engagement music channels saluting some of the most influential, pioneering Black artists including Aretha Franklin (above) and Miles Davis, in addition to celebrating the sounds and artists from legendary record label, Motown,” according to the release.
“SiriusXM has collaborated with these historic artists and their teams to create unique, curated radio channels exclusively for listeners and fans.”
The channels are: The Aretha Franklin Channel (available on the SXM App for 30 days beginning Feb. 4 and on SiriusXM channel 104 from Feb. 14 to Feb. 20), Miles Davis Radio (available on the SXM App for 30 days beginning Feb. 4 and on SiriusXM channel 67 from Feb. 14 to Feb. 20) and The Motown Channel (available on the SXM App for 30 days beginning Feb. 4 and on SiriusXM channel 49 from Feb. 21 to Feb. 27).
SiriusXM Celebrates Black History Month also features special programming including Save the Music’s J Dilla Day on Feb. 7 on Rock the Bells (channel 43) and Hip-Hop Nation (channel 44) and Influences of the Blues with Keb Mo on BB King’s Bluesville (channel 74), which debuted on Feb. 1 and will have encores throughout the month.
