Program competition opens for 2013 Banff World Media Festival Awards


BANFF – The Banff World Media Festival has put out a call for program competition entries for its June 2013 international Rockies Program Competition.

Known as ‘The Rockies,’ Banff’s program competition celebrates the “best of the best” in international television and digital media content. The Rockies is the largest international program competition in the media content industry and attracts over a thousand entries from more than 40 countries annually.

Each year, The Rockies honour the immeasurable contribution of some of the biggest names in the industry at the Rockie Awards Gala including, Ricky Gervais, Nigel Lythgoe, Lisa Kudrow, Eugene Levy, David Attenborough, William Shatner, James Burrows, Barry Humphries (aka Dame Edna), Howie Mandel, John Cleese, Bob Newhart, Martin Short, Tracy Ullman, Kelsey Grammer, and more.

Successful nominees will be selected by a panel of industry leaders representing excellence in the following genres:

  •          Entertainment
  •          Children, Family and Youth Program
  •          Documentary
  •          Interactive Categories (e.g Web Series)

The 33rd annual Banff World Media Festival will take place June 10-13, 2012 at the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, Banff, Canada. The winners of the 2013 Rockies Program Competition will be presented with the Rockie trophy during the Banff World Media Festival in Banff, Alberta from June 9-12, 2013.
