TORONTO – CTV has kicked off production of its new original music series The Launch with recording superstars Fergie and OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder (both pictured) among its first musical mentors.

After an international casting call and a review of more than 10,000 aspiring performers, 30 were selected to participate in the new six-part, hour-long series, debuting early next year on CTV. Additional mentors, songwriters, producers and the selected artists will be announced soon.

The Launch debuts a new and unique format in the music television series genre, documenting an authentic, behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to break a new artist and bring a song to life, reads the news release. In each hour-long episode, a group of unsigned emerging artists are mentored in the creation of a new original song by a panel of internationally renowned hit makers and mentors.

The new international television format is the first TV project stemming from Bell Media’s partnership with record executive Scott Borchetta, the founder, president, and CEO of the Big Machine Label Group (BMLG).

“As we begin production, we look forward to watching the magic unfold as our growing list of mentors guide the show’s emerging artists through the monumental journey of launching a new song,” said Bell Media president Randy Lennox, in the release. “Alongside our brilliant partners at BMLG, Eureka Productions, and Insight Productions, we have worked hard to create what is sure to be an unforgettable viewer experience.”

The show's format is currently being readied for an upcoming international roll-out.
