Prime Video’s The Chosen Season 5 to stream globally starting July 13

Amazon Prime Video on Tuesday confirmed Season 5 of its global hit series The Chosen will begin streaming internationally in select territories on July 13, following its U.S. streaming debut on June 15.

Titled The Chosen: Last Supper, the fifth season will premiere in three parts over three weeks on Prime Video in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Sub-Saharan Africa, the UK, and Latin America. The first two episodes will debut on July 13, followed by three episodes on July 20 and the last three episodes on July 27. Seasons 1 through 4 are currently available to stream on Prime Video.

The Chosen: Last Supper made its theatrical debut March 28 in the U.S. and Canada and on April 11 internationally, grossing nearly $60 million. Over the past three years, The Chosen’s theatrical releases have cumulatively grossed nearly $140 million worldwide in 55 countries, according to an Amazon MGM Studios press release.

Produced by 5&2 Studios and written, directed and produced by Dallas Jenkins, The Chosen is a historical drama based on the life of Jesus (played by Jonathan Roumie), seen through the eyes of those who knew him. Intended to be seven seasons, The Chosen’s sixth season is currently in production in the U.S. and Italy.

Earlier this year, Amazon MGM Studios signed a first-look deal with 5&2 Studios that includes streaming rights to the first five seasons of The Chosen and the new unscripted series The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls for Prime Video. The deal also includes theatrical and streaming rights to the upcoming final two seasons, which will follow the crucifixion (Season 6) and the resurrection (Season 7). Lionsgate handles global distribution for The Chosen and The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls.
