CANNES – In celebration of Japan being a country of focus at MIPCOM 2019, Blue Ant International announced Monday four new programming licensing deals and four renewals spread amongst two of the country’s leading platforms – national broadcaster NHK and cable and satellite network Fox Networks Group Japan.
NHK has licensed three new titles including Turtle Beach (1×60, pictured), which reveals turtles’ nesting behaviours and the hidden world inside their nests; UFOs: The Lost Evidence (1×60), which explores if human contact with UFOs is deeper and more far-reaching than imagined; and Rooted (1×60), a natural history film that showcases five of South Africa’s most iconic trees and the unique animals, insects, and birds surrounding them.
Fox Networks Group Japan has secured a new license for Blue (1×60), a journey into the ocean realm, while renewing four other natural history series: Undiscovered Vistas season one (8×60), an aerial journey that reveals some of the most beautiful places in the world; Coastal Africa season one (4×60), which follows the vibrant marine life that thrives where two oceans converge on the southern tip of Africa; Great Blue Wild season one (6×60), a series that joins marine ecologists as they uncover ocean secrets and defend endangered animals; and Land of Gremlins season one (3×60), a journey through Madagascar’s pristine paradise for a glimpse of some of Earth’s weirdest and rarest creatures.
This year, Blue Ant launched a slate of over 330 new premium titles across categories. The full catalogue is here.
