TORONTO – Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty paid a visit Tuesday to Xtreme Labs, which develops mobile applications for smart phones and digital tablets in downtown Toronto.
Founded by Amar Varma and Sundeep Madra, the company has quickly grown from two to 50 employees just over two years and was recently named one of the 50 Hottest Emerging Companies in Canada for 2010 by PROFIT magazine. Premier McGuinty toured the Xtreme Labs' office while meeting with some of its employees. Xtreme Labs' mobile application experts were on hand to showcase and test-drive some of its top applications for the Premier.
"[Xtreme Labs] is yet another example of a fine, brilliant, young enterprise putting Toronto and Ontario on the international map," said Premier McGuinty, reiterating the importance of job growth in Ontario, and recognizing Xtreme Labs as a leader and supporter of innovation.
The Premier also thanked the company for helping to grow Ontario's digital economy. Xtreme Labs also created Extreme Venture Partners, a company that funds and mentors technology start-ups.
