TORONTO – Pinewood Toronto Studios hosted an ‘explosive’ event Friday as it broke ground on its multi-stage expansion.

Already one of Canada's largest production facilities, the complex is adding an additional 30,000 square feet to its expansion plans, bringing the total new production space to 200,000 square feet (18,580 square metres) of sound stages and support space.  With this expansion, Pinewood Toronto Studios will total 525,000 square feet.

Bell Media bought a majority interest in Pinewood Toronto Studios earlier this year, striking a deal in partnership with Comweb Studio Holdings, Castlepoint and the City of Toronto.  The facility is home to a number of Bell Media original productions, including Orphan Black, The Listener, and Killjoys.
