TORONTO – Pinewood Toronto Studios has officially opened two new purpose-built stages, Bell Media announced today.
A celebratory event held today included a key address from deputy mayor Michael Thompson and a sneak-peek behind the scenes on the lot, according to a press release.
Three sound stages are also currently in construction and are expected to be completed by the end of the year. Once the stages are all complete, “the new development will be in excess of 200,000 square feet of production space, of which 102,000 square feet will be sound stages,” says the release.
Pinewood Toronto Studios will be a total of 525,000 square feet once the expansion is completed. “This significant increase in capacity will enable the Studios to further support the ever-growing demand for studio space from domestic and international film and television clients,” the press release says.
Bell Media Studios acquired a majority stake in Pinewood Toronto Studios in 2018 in partnership with Comweb Studio Holdings, Castlepoint, and the City of Toronto.
