Petro-Canada, 7-Eleven to sell wireless

TORONTO – The next time you’re at a Petro-Canada gas station to fill up, don’t be surprised to hear: “Check your oil? How about a mobile phone?”

Or you go to a 7-Eleven convenience store for a litre of milk. “Lottery ticket with that? Cell phone?”

The two retailers, called Canadian Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO), will soon be selling the Nokia 2760 mobile phone, launched in Canada Tuesday.

The handset’s features include Bluetooth(R) technology, a VGA camera with 4 X zoom, FM radio, and the Nokia Xpress Audio and Multimedia messaging functions.

“Thanks to MVNOs such as 7-Eleven and Petro-Canada, quality mobile phones like the Nokia 2760 are now more widely available to Canadian consumers, giving them more freedom of choice and an enhanced consumer experience,” said Dave Bergeron, Director New Channel Development, Nokia Canada.

The device will also be available through other Canadian retailers before the end of 2007.
