Persona to offer VOIP nationally


TORONTO – When national small-market cable operator Persona launches voice in 2007, MTS Allstream will be hauling much of the traffic across its networks.

MTS said today it has signed a $30 million contract to supply Persona, Canada’s 5th largest national cable and high speed Internet provider, with a Network Resident IP Telephony (NRIPT) solution, enabling it to introduce a voice over IP service to select markets across Canada.

Newfoundland-based Persona plans to offer digital phone service to its new and existing customers in selected markets across Canada beginning in 2007.
