CALGARY – Len Perry has been promoted to vice-president and general manager, CTV Calgary, announced Elaine Ali, senior vice-president, CTV Stations Group, today.
He succeeds departing vice-president and general manager Pat McDougall, who recently announced her December 31 retirement.
"I am very proud to take on this new challenge and honoured to have the opportunity to lead the excellent team at CTV Calgary," said Perry in the press release. "I am confident that we will continue to strengthen our contribution to viewers and to our community."
He was most recently director of news and public affairs at CTV Calgary, where for the past seven years he has lead the local news team and received many honours including five international Edward R. Murrow Awards. Under Perry’s leadership, CTV Calgary has the four most-watched news programs in Calgary, says the company.
"I am delighted for Len and the station as he assumes his new role. Len’s combination of experience and management style makes him the ideal candidate to guide the station in building upon its role as the leading broadcast organization in the market," said Ali.
Perry currently sits on a number of educational committees in Calgary including; Board of Governors for St. Mary’s University/College; member of the advisory committee for the Centre of Communications Studies at Mount Royal College and former chair of the Advisory Committee for Broadcast Studies. He was named Broadcaster of the Year by the Broadcast Educators Association of Canada (BEAC).
