TORONTO – The Canadian Media Directors’ council has lined up a large, interesting, diverse slate of senior executives to speak at its upcoming conference.
The CMDC’s March 28 conference is called "Mining Growth – Discovering Potential in Media Mayhem" and will likely attract more than 800. The annual get-together is the Canadian marketing industry’s largest single-day event.
The keynote speakers include: Michael Grimaldi, president, General Motors Canada; Maurice Lévy, Paris-based CEO of Publicis Groupe SA; and Pierre Karl Péladeau, president and CEO, Quebecor Inc.
The outlook for growth from media outlets will be presented by five Canadian media leaders: Nick Arakgi, general manager, Viacom Outdoor Canada; Michael Goldbloom, publisher, The Toronto Star; Paul Ski, executive vice-president, CHUM Radio; Peter Viner, president and CEO, CanWest Media Works; and Ken Whyte, publisher and editor-in-chief, MacLean’s magazine. The session moderator will be Michael Vaughan of ROB Television.
The concluding panel consists of an international who’s who of media management: Nick Brien, president and CEO, Universal McCann, New York; Irwin Gottlieb, global CEO, Group M; Joe Uva, president and CEO, OMD Worldwide, New York; and Ray Warren president, Carat USA and president, Carat Media Group Americas.
Other individual speakers include Rishad Tobaccowala, chief innovation officer, Publicis Groupe Media and president, SMG Next from Chicago; Wendy Muller, head, Canadian advertising sales and operations, Google Inc.; and Patricia Croft, chief economist and vice-president, Phillips Hager & North Investment Management Ltd.
Reaching the young adult will be the focus of a second morning panel moderated by George Stroumboulopoulos, Host of CBC Newsworld’s The Hour. It will feature the views of: Nathaniel Brochin, managing director, 12snap Inc., U.S.; Sandy Perlman, director, marketing communications, Microsoft Canada; Alain Tascan, vice-president and studio general manager of games designer Electronic Arts; and Max Valiquette, president, Youthography.
The day-long conference will happen in the John Bassett Theatre of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
