PC-TV tuner market to reach $3.1 billion in revenues by 2011: In-Stat

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – The introduction of Microsoft Vista, which encourages PC-TV tuner vendors to centralize their drivers, will boost the growth of PC-TV tuners, according to the In-Stat report, PC TV Tuners, Coming to a PC Near You.

Research firm In-Stat predicts that 50.8 million PC-TV tuners will be sold worldwide representing $3.1 billion in revenue by 2011.

“The most common PC-TV tuner will enable digital terrestrial television reception and be integrated in the PC as part of a Microsoft Vista bundle," said In-Stat analyst Chris Kissel. "However, hybrid USB TV tuners, PC-TV tuners for free-to-air satellite TV services, and pay-TV capable tuners will have significant market shares."
