TVO Media Education Group (TVO) on Tuesday announced the appointment of Pary Bell as its new CEO, effective Jan. 12.
Bell succeeds Jeffrey Orridge, who left Ontario’s public broadcaster in August after serving as CEO since November 2020. TVO’s chief operating officer, Jennifer Hinshelwood, had been serving as acting CEO following Orridge’s departure.
Incoming CEO Bell was most recently CEO of The Podcast Exchange (TPX), which in July 2025 filed a notice of intention under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and was subsequently acquired by digital media advertising company Native Touch.
Prior to joining TPX in February 2024, Bell was president and CEO of Eyereturn Marketing, and previously held executive leadership roles at Torstar, Rogers Sports and Media, Canwest and Alliance Atlantis. He also worked as a producer at CBC for five years in the early 2000s. During his time at Rogers Media, he spearheaded the 2014 launch of Sportsnet NOW (now Sportsnet+).
“With over 25 years of experience in Canada’s media and digital sectors, Pary Bell has led organizations and teams across a wide range of operating environments, working closely with boards, partners, and stakeholders to support strong performance and public value,” reads a bio on TVO’s website.
As CEO of TVO, Bell will be responsible for the overall direction of the organization and for advancing its public mission across education and media, said a TVO press release Tuesday.
“Pary’s rich background in digital media, his experience leading omni-channel strategies, and his passion for learning make him the ideal leader for TVO at this important time in our evolution,” Chris Day, TVO board chair, said in the press release. “I look forward to working with him as we continue to serve learners of all ages, throughout Ontario’s education system and beyond.”
“TVO is a special organization with a clear public purpose and a deeply committed team. I am excited to join at this moment and to build on the strong foundation the leadership team has stewarded,” Bell said in a statement. “I am grateful for the confidence of the Board and the Ministry, and I am looking forward to working together to support TVO’s mission for learners, audiences, and communities across Ontario.”
TVO board chair Day added: “On behalf of the TVO Board, I also want to thank Jennifer Hinshelwood for the tremendous leadership she has provided as Acting CEO during an important period of advancement for TVO.”
