Paramount+ renews Rugrats for second season; episodes will stream in Canada

STREAMING SERVICE Paramount+ announced today the renewal of the original series Rugrats for a 13-episode second season, which will be available to stream in the U.S., Canada, Latin America and Australia.

Produced by Nickelodeon Animation Studio, the new Rugrats series first premiered on Paramount+ in May. Paramount+ and Nickelodeon are both owned by ViacomCBS. The new series is a reimagining of the classic show from the ’90s and features colourful CG-animation.

Eight new episodes from season one will be available to stream exclusively on Paramount+ beginning Thursday, Oct. 7.

An anticipated premiere date for season two of the series was not announced in the press release about the renewal.

The series will air on Nickelodeon following season one’s run on Paramount+, on a date to be announced, the release says.

It’s unclear if that includes Nickelodeon Canada, which is owned and operated by Corus Entertainment, or if season two will be made available eventually to Nickelodeon viewers in Canada.
