Bell announced Thursday that it has created and is now selling a new smartphone called Ahlo that caters to “value-conscious” users.
The device is available for $270 outright or, for a limited time, for $1 per month for 24 months with eligible two-year plans, at the end of which the device is paid off.
The phone is 5G+ compatible and runs on the Android operating system, has a 6.58” FHD+ display at 2408×1080 resolution, a 50MP quad camera, 5000 mAh battery, fingerprint scanner, and has a 24-month warranty.

Bell Media’s Crave announced Tuesday it is bringing Project Runway Canada back to Canadian audiences, with a 10-episode order for the Canadian adaptation of the fashion competition series.
Using the Project Runway format licensed from Fremantle, Crave’s iteration of Project Runway Canada will be the third time the series has aired in Canada. The first season aired in 2007 on Slice (owned by Alliance Atlantis at the time) and the second season ran in 2009 on Global TV (owned then by Canwest).

Bell Media on Monday announced that the Season 2 debut Sunday of HBO’s The Last of Us achieved record-breaking success on Crave, experiencing a 23-per-cent increase in streaming viewership compared to the Season 1 premiere.
The debut episode of Season 2 achieved the third-highest season premiere Day 1 streaming numbers in Crave history, surpassed by only the premieres of Season 2 of House of the Dragon and Season 8 of Game of Thrones, Bell Media said in a press release, citing mParticle/Adobe Analytics streaming data.

The CRTC in an April 8 letter has directed Iristel to make payments past due to Bell that the far north telecom provider had been withholding in response to an interconnection dispute between the two companies.
The commission has told Iristel to pay the amounts owed to Bell based on the payment plan proposed by Iristel in a Part 1 application it filed with the CRTC in March. The commission’s requirements regarding these payments have been provided in confidence to Iristel and Bell, and have not been made public.

Bell and Ericsson announced Tuesday they have conducted a successful field test of AI-native link adaptation, making the Montreal-based telecom the first operator globally to do so, according to a joint press release.
A feature of Ericsson’s 5G Advanced portfolio, AI-native link adaptation technology uses real-time AI to dynamically adapt networks in response to changes in signal quality, interference and other factors, enhancing the user experience through increased throughput and spectral efficiency, according to the release. WildBrain announced Monday it has begun renegotiations with Halifax-based children’s studio IoM Media Ventures on certain commercial aspects of their previously announced agreement whereby IoM is to acquire a majority stake in WildBrain’s TV broadcast business.
When announced in December 2024, the transaction was valued at more than $40 million. Under the terms of the agreement, IoM was to acquire 66 2/3 per cent of WildBrain’s TV business, including Family Channel, Family Jr., WildBrainTV and Télémagino.

Bell Media’s Crave announced Monday the season finale of HBO’s The White Lotus delivered the biggest Sunday night streaming viewership of any episode in Crave’s history.
The final episode of Season 3 saw a 183-per-cent increase in streams compared to the Season 2 finale, and even surpassed Sunday night streams of The Last of Us, Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, according to Crave, which cited mParticle/Adobe Analytics as its source for streaming data.

Rogers announced Friday it has finalized an agreement to sell for $7 billion a 49.9 per cent stake in a portion of its wireless traffic transport infrastructure through a subsidiary to pay down debt.
The investors will be led by American asset manager Blackstone and include the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec, the Public Sector Pension Investment Board, and the British Columbia Investment Management Corporation. Stewart Johnston, senior vice president of content at Bell Media, is departing the company to take on leadership of the Canadian Football League (CFL) as its 15th commissioner.
The former president of TSN will depart Bell Media on April 24. He had been with TSN since 1997, rising through the ranks to hold the VP of programming role by 2006. Johnston was promoted to president of the sports network in 2010, before being named SVP of sports and sales in 2021.
