VANCOUVER – Former CBC Radio exec Chris Boyce has joined podcasting and branded content start-up Pacific Content as it seeks to expand east into the Toronto market.
Boyce (pictured) was formerly executive director of radio and audio for the national broadcaster but departed in April 2015 in the wake of a workplace investigation report into inappropriate behaviour by fired radio host Jian Ghomeshi.
In his new role as a principal, Boyce will establish a Toronto presence for the rapidly expanding Pacific Content team, which has grown from two to ten people in the past three months. Pacific Content said that it has worked with major brands like Slack, the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, and Telus to produce original podcast series or consult on creating top-tier digital content.
"We're thrilled to have an audio visionary like Chris onboard who believes in how we're reshaping the business model for podcasting, including our vision for creating amazingly high quality audio content," said principal Steve Pratt, in Thursday’s announcement.
"At CBC I spent a lot of time thinking about how technology was radically changing how people consume media", added Boyce. "At Pacific Content I get to live that transformation every day, helping lead a team of people who are redefining the future of audio and how people think about branded content."
