TORONTO – Vice Studios and OUTtv announced Monday they will co-produce a makeover series that celebrates the transgender and gender non-conforming community.
Clothes Minded “will centre around transgender and gender non-conforming young adults who are nervous for a key event coming up in their lives (a job interview, a wedding, a prom) because they are still working to feel comfortable with their identity,” reads the release.
The reality show is meant to act as a “comrade in arms,” helping each featured subject find their own unique look to represent and connect with their true selves.
“Clothes Minded is a natural next step for us in original programming as we continue to develop content for and about the LGBTQ+ communities,” said Brad Danks, CEO of OUTtv, in the press release. “Vice Studios always strives to shine a light on underrepresented communities and we look forward to joining forces with them to bring new and inclusive programming to our respective audiences.”
The series marks the first production partnership between Vice and OUTtv.
“Celebrating unique viewpoints of the world that connect humanity together is emblematic of Vice’s ethos,” added Vanessa Case, SVP, Studio Canada in the release.
Vice will be handling global distribution of the series outside of OUTtv’s territories, which are in Canada, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and India.
