OUTtv announces new original series and renewals

VANCOUVER and LOS ANGELES — OUTtv, Canada’s only and the world’s first LGBTQ+ television network and streaming service, announced today the expansion of its slate of OUTtv Originals with four new commissioned series and six renewed series.

“Our original series have been highly successful with our audiences,” said Philip Webb, COO of OUTtv, in a press release. “We are thrilled to be expanding our catalog of original series and to bring more authentically queer content to OUTtv.com subscribers.”

The new OUTtv Originals include Sew Fierce (8 x 60’), a new weekly competition series showcasing the craft of drag costume design. Produced by Sonic Nursery, the series is hosted by Barbada and features design mentor Lucinda Miu.

OUTtv has also commissioned two new series from Producer Entertainment Group. The first, Dr. Jackie (6 x 30’), is a comedy series about a therapist who “is the last person you’d ever want to tell your problems to… She’s judgmental, irritable and self-centered… Eavesdrop as Dr. Jackie uses inkblots, trauma puppets, scream therapy, hypnosis and something she simply calls ‘Please Take Off Your Clothes’ in an attempt to help her famous and fabulous patients ranging from Alaska to Katya to even Margaret Cho,” reads a synopsis in the press release.

The second new show from Producer Entertainment Group is Behind the Drag Queen of the Year Pageant Competition Award Contest Competition (6 x 30’), a reality series where pageant directors Alaska Thunderf*ck 5000 and Lola LeCroix “invite a group of stellar drag artists from a variety of backgrounds and drag perspectives to compete for a crown, a sash, a bouquet of very nice flowers and a cash prize in this behind the scenes look at the making of a pageant the world has never seen before,” the release reads.

The fourth new OUTtv Originals commission is Sugar Highs (6 x 30’), a comedy series produced by Emotion Pictures. “Three twenty-something men would rather be drunk, stoned and party than work at menial jobs for a living. Solution? Sugar daddies,” reads a synopsis.

The six series returning to OUTtv include The Sherry Vine Variety Show (season two, 6 x 30’) and Translation (season two, 3 x 30’) from Producer Entertainment Group, Camp Wannakiki (season four, 9 x 44’) from Sugarbaker Productions, The Villbergs Chronicles (season two, 6 x 30’) from The Villbergs Productions, Iconic Justice (season two, 6 x 30’) from DaddyTV, Avocado Toast (season two) from Border2Border Entertainment, and Pride (season three, 6 x 30’) from We Demand Productions.
