Ouat Media expands to Mexico and South America

TORONTO – Ouat Media, a division of Channel Zero Inc., is expanding its short film and new media distribution business into Mexico and South America.

Heading up the new unit is Miguel Ortega as Acquisitions Manager. “The experience and knowledge that Miguel brings, along with the amazing films coming out of Mexico, will truly strengthen the new acquisitions for our film library and significantly contribute to the growth of the business,” says Jennifer Chen, General Manager, Ouat Media Inc.

Ouat Media is just one year old, growing to more than 10 employees, becoming Canada’s largest distributor of short films. In the past year, Ouat Media has travelled the festival circuits promoting its services, especially its growing catalogue of Canadian and international films. Ouat Media says it will expand operations into other international territories in the coming year.

Ortega has spent the last several years as the head of International Sales at ImCine (Mexican Film Institute), the Co-Director and founder of the Short Shorts Film Festival Mexico, and as the newly appointed Associate Director of the Cancun International Film Festival.

Ouat Media’s parent, Channel Zero Inc., operates the specialty channels Movieola—The Short Film Channel and Silver Screen Classics.
