OTA rebrands with new name and logo

NEWMARKET, ONT. – To better reflect its expanded operations across Canada, the Ontario Telecommunications Association announced today it will now be called the Independent Telecommunications Providers Association, or ITPA.

“When we extended our membership to include CityWest Telephone and Cable we initiated a process to select a new name and develop a new logo that would reflect the fact that our membership now comes from well beyond our traditional borders,” said ITPA executive director Jonathan Holmes in a release.

“Our new name reflects our member companies’ history as independent telecommunications companies that proudly offer a wide range of cutting-edge services to rural British Columbia and Ontario. While maintaining visual elements of our history, our new logo incorporates the maple leaf as its focal point signifying that our membership is now also drawn from beyond Ontario,” said Holmes.

The ITPA represents the regulatory and commercial interests of 20 diversified small incumbent local exchange carriers (SILECs) which together serve approximately 100,000 access lines and provide telephone, internet, cellular and digital television services across many rural regions in Ontario and British Columbia.
