TORONTO – Bell Media was quick to congratulate Orphan Black’s Tatiana Maslany who on Sunday night became the first-ever Canadian actor from a Canadian series to win an Emmy Award for acting in a dramatic series.
Maslany received the award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her work as multiple characters (pictured) in the Space original series, beating out heavy-hitters Claire Danes (Homeland), Viola Davis (How To Get Away With Murder), Taraji P. Henson (Empire), Robin Wright (House Of Cards), and Keri Russell (The Americans).
“A standing ovation is in order for the incomparable Tatiana Maslany on winning this award for the unique and beloved characters she’s brought to life on Orphan Black”, said Bell Media president, broadcasting and content Randy Lennox, in a statement. “This is a milestone achievement for Canadian actors on Canadian television, and we are honoured to have Tatiana return for the fifth and final season of Orphan Black.”
Produced by Temple Street, a division of Boat Rocker Studios, in association with Space and BBC America, the fifth and final season of Orphan Black is slated to begin production this fall. An additional 10, one-hour episodes are set to air in 2017 on Space, while seasons 1-3 are available now on CraveTV.
