ORILLIA, Ont. – Bell is set to connect its all-fibre optic network in the central Ontario city of Orillia.
The network deployment will connect directly to approximately 15,000 homes and business locations throughout the region through more than 260 km of new fibre installation. Broad availability of Bell’s all-fibre connections in Orillia is expected by the first quarter of 2019.
“Bell is proud to partner with the City of Orillia to build the next generation communications infrastructure that will provide the best connectivity solutions today as well as the Internet of Things, smart city and 5G applications of tomorrow,” said Bell’s VP network Bruce Furlong, in the news release. “The ongoing support we have received from the City’s planning and permit departments will continue to play a key role in the quick and efficient rollout of the new network.”
“Bell’s investment will put Orillia among the top 10 per cent of communities across Canada for high-speed connectivity,” added Dan Landry, manager of business retention and expansion with the Orillia Economic Development Office.
