QUEBEC CITY — The federal and Quebec governments announced today a $1.02-million investment made through the Canada-Quebec Operation High Speed program will provide access to high-speed Internet services for 670 households in the Centre-du-Québec region by September 2022.
The project, valued at $1.45 million, will be implemented by Maskatel, which is a division of Bell Canada, and will serve the municipalities of Sainte-Clotilde-de-Horton, Sainte-Séraphine and Notre-Dame-du-Bon-Conseil, according to a press release from ISED Canada.
“This historic project for Quebec will enable more residents of the Centre-du-Québec region to have access to Maskatel’s full range of services, including reliable, high-quality Internet access with speeds of up to 1 Gbps,” said François-Philippe Lessard, managing director of Maskatel, in the press release.
The Canada-Quebec Operation High Speed program is an $826-million joint initiative by the governments of Canada and Quebec to connect 150,000 underserved Quebec households to high-speed Internet by September 2022.
