Ontario government announces $2M to support film, TV industry in North Bay

NORTH BAY – The Government of Ontario announced today it is providing $2 million to support the film and television industry in North Bay through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation.

“This investment will help create jobs, attract talent and boost economic growth, improving quality of life for those who live in northern communities,” a press release says.

The funding is being allocated to four projects, which will each receive $500,000. Three of the projects are for made-for-television movies. These include HP Time Productions Inc.’s My Angel’s Christmas List, HP Cold Productions Inc.’s Great Christmas Switch and HP A Lot of Christmas Productions Inc.’s Jingle Bells Princess. The final project is Hideaway Pictures’ feature film Toying with the Holidays.

“Our government is making targeted investments in growing and emerging sectors, such as the North’s film and television industry,” said Greg Rickford, minister of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry, in the press release.

“Investments like these are helping to solidify the North’s reputation as a top production centre in Canada and will enable businesses to expand, innovate and diversify.”
