Ontario Association of Broadcasters announces 2008 community service award winners


TORONTO – Former CHUM Ltd Vice Chair and COO Fred Sherratt will be honoured at the Ontario Association of Broadcasters’ Community Service Awards Luncheon 2008 on October 7 at 11:30 at the Boulevard Club in Toronto.

The event will also feature a keynote by CRTC Vice-Chair, Broadcasting Michel Arpin.

The OAB Community Service Award for Radio – Small Market will be presented to CKTB/HTZ-FM/ EZROCK Astral Media Radio Niagara. General manger Madelyn Hamilton will accept the award.

An honourable mention goes to The Rock, Durham Radio Oshawa. Craig Robertson, morning show host; Steve Kassay, general manager; and Adrianne Vogel, promotions manager will be accepting on behalf of The Rock.

The Radio – Large Market Award goes to Q107, Corus Radio, Toronto. Accepting for Q107 will be Darren Wasylyk, marketing and promotions director.

The honourable mention will go to CHFI-FM, Rogers Media Toronto. Stephanie Shaunessey, promotions coordinator, will accept the award.

The OAB Community Service Award winner for Television – Small Market is ‘A’ Barrie, a division of CTVglobemedia. Andy Stokes, promotions director, will accept the award.

The Television – Large Market Award winner is Global Television, Canwest Toronto. Leslie Roberts and Anne-Marie Mediwake, co-anchors will accept the award.

The honourable mention winner is CHCH News, Canwest Hamilton. Bob Cowan, co-host of Morning Live CHCH News, will accept the award.
