One Shaw Media brand will take a DTOUR this fall

TORONTO – Shaw Media said Wednesday it will launch a new lifestyle specialty channel this fall called DTOUR by rebranding an existing service. However, it would not say which channel would be changed.

The company’s press release says the new channel “will bring those with a lifelong passion for new experiences a fresh perspective on the world they think they know.”

(Ed note: We don’t know for sure, but we’re making an educated guess that the rebranded channel could be the company’s service aimed at the mature viewer set, TVTropolis. Industry blogger Cameron Archer tweeted the pic below on Wednesday of a banner at Shaw Media’s upfront which is missing the TVTrop logo but has the new DTOUR one. Then again, TwistTV isn’t on that banner either.)

"Shaw Media is a long-standing leader in specialty television and home to the most sought-after lifestyle brands," said Barb Williams, senior vice president, content, Shaw Media. "Our steadfast commitment to bringing Canadians the best in entertainment is the motivation behind DTOUR. It is a significant addition to our robust portfolio of channels, taking Canadians behind the scenes and beyond the everyday with a diverse lineup of exclusive content."

“DTOUR joins the company's successful lineup of lifestyle services including HGTV, Food Network, Slice and DIY Network,” reads the press release. This fall the channel “introduces the young at heart to big personalities and powerful experiences as classic rock legend Bret Michaels creates miraculous mobile mansions in Rock My RV with Bret Michaels, a retired combat veteran and his wife test their relationship and survival skills in Get Lost, and Anthony Melchiorri whips hotels back into shape in Hotel Impossible.”
