
TORONTO – Madeline Ziniak, national vice president, Omni Television, was honoured with the lifetime achievement award at the 2013 Cambridge Awards of Excellence, held Monday evening in Toronto.
Presented by the Cambridge Food and Wine Society, Multicultural History Society of Ontario, and the Ontario Restaurant, Hotel and Motel Association, Ziniak was recognized “for her tremendous contribution in driving and fostering multicultural media in Canada,” said the press release.
With a career in multicultural media that spans more than 30 years, Ziniak (right) has been widely recognized for her dedication in promoting and reflecting Canada’s diversity through Omni Television. Internationally renowned as a leader in multicultural media, she is the recipient of the Order of Canada, the Order of Ontario, and the Queen Elizabeth II Golden, and Diamond Jubilee medals. An industry leader in multicultural media, Ziniak is also a founding member of the Strategic Alliance of Broadcasters for Aboriginal Reflection (SABAR), in addition to serving as Chair of the Canadian Ethnic Media Association (CEMA) and Co-Chair of the International Press Freedom Awards (Canadian Journalists for Free Expression).
Past recipients of the prestigious Cambridge Awards of Excellence Lifetime Award include the Honourable Kenneth Taylor, Ted Kotcheff, Honourable Frank Iacobucci, the late Lincoln Alexander, the late Ed Mirvish, the late Pierre Trudeau, and the late Johnny Lombardi.
